Buying online:

  • Make sure the internet store even ships products to the area you live in.
  • Try not to use obvious numbers like a birth date or phone number. Instead, choose less obvious numbers and letters together.
  • Be diligent about maintaining the privacy of your passwords. Try to have some creativity when thinking of a password, and never let anyone else know it.
  • Bookmark the web address of the sites you buy from. If you wish to make future purchases or need to contact the company, it is easier to go back to the website.
  • If you are planning to buy a gift, make sure there is time to spare for shipping to either yourself or the recipient.
  • Most internet stores charge a fee for shipping that changes with time - ie: if you don’t need fast shipping, cost of shipping will generally be less.
  • Check for time it will take to be delivered and how much it will cost to see if they fit with your time-line and budget.
  • Record the items you purchase. Be sure to make a printout of your confirmation number and your purchase order to keep for your records.
